I have gained much of the experience needed to extend genealogical research services in Portage and Wood Counties, Wisconsin through volunteering as the research committee chairman for the Heart O' Wisconsin Genealogical Society for six years, attending many genealogy educational conferences, volunteering at the area research center and the LDS Family History Center in central Wisconsin, as well as working on my own family genealogical history. What are your fees? After approval of the project and prior to starting a project, I request that you send a retainer. The retainier is based on the amount of time I expect the project to take. For most items, I charge on a professional fee basis plus expenses. ($15.00 per hour, plus costs of copies, postage, microfilm rental, parking, etc.) I do not charge for travel if research is performed in Wisconsin Rapids. The total project cost depends upon the type and length of research. Retainer amounts usually cover the amount of time I should work on the questions, and expenses such as photocopies, travel and postage are added to this amount. References are available upon request. Flat rate fees are available for consultations such as pre-1907 vital record and indexed census look-ups. If some research is needed to find a record (death certificate transcription, obituary photocopy, etc) but you do not need a complete research project, please send an email and request an estimate.
